We feel so incredibly blessed that 4 years ago we welcomed this sweet loving child into the world. He has such a big heart and I can't wait to see what God has in store for him.
Happy Birthday, Big Boy!!!
I cannot believe my baby is 4 years old!!! Last Thursday was Westen's birthday and he was so excited! He had a special day that day. We headed out that morning to run errands getting things ready for his upcoming party. He got to pick where we ate lunch which was, of course, Chic-fil-A, then we headed to a movie where his daddy took off work for a couple hours to join us. We saw Monsters, Inc. After that he got to go back to Daddy's office and help him work for about an hour which I think was the highlight of his day:) Then, of course, we had some cupcakes... Our gift for him had not (and still has not) arrived in the mail, but we wanted him to have a little something to open... And a kiss from his brother... Saturday, we had his party at our house with a few family and friends. I'll let the pictures tell the rest... We had a great time! He thinks he's so big. I really think when you're a kid you feel different on each next birthday...at least when your a toddler. We feel so incredibly blessed that 4 years ago we welcomed this sweet loving child into the world. He has such a big heart and I can't wait to see what God has in store for him. Happy Birthday, Big Boy!!! Add Comment "For unto us a Child is born, In the wee hours of the morning, Austin and I finally had everything set up for Christmas morning... The morning of Christmas, Austin and I woke up early. We wanted to be awake before the boys because there was no hiding those bikes and we wanted to see their reactions when they saw them. They were so excited! It was still dark out, otherwise I think we would've had to take them outside right then to give those bikes a whirl! I won't give you a play by play for the morning. I'll just show some of the pictures... After opening just our family's gifts that morning, we headed outside to ride bikes and play with a couple other outdoor toys. Would you believe we had the street to ourselves at 7:30am? I stayed out for a little bit with the boys, but then headed in to prepare breakfast and get things in order for our company later that day. When the boys came in, just before breakfast, we skyped with Mamaw and Papaw while the boys opened gifts from them. Unfortunately, skyping and helping with gifts didn't leave hands for taking pictures:( They had so much fun though and we're thankful for the gifts Mamaw and Papaw sent to us. Later in the afternoon, my in-laws came to our house for a late lunch and gifts for the kids from Nana and Papa... I think that picture is so funny! After lunch, Lauren was so kind and graciously offered to stay at our house with the boys while the adults went to see a movie. She did awesome and the boys loved having her there. They LOVE their cousins! Thanks Lauren! Later that night, after everyone left, the boys insisted they were starving. I think they'd been so excited they hadn't eaten much all day. Soooo, while Daddy cleaned up... (I had to get proof of that) ...the boys ate chips... Although we missed our KY family terribly, we had a wonderful Christmas. Next up...Westen's Birthday! We spent Christmas Even this year at my sister-in-law, Marissa's house. She decided to change things up a bit and requested everyone wear their best Christmas jammies. Then Marissa and my other sister-in-law, Lindsay, made a huge Christmas breakfast for dinner. And I have to say the breakfast was AMAZING!!! Lindsay did such an awesome job with some delicious gingerbread fried chicken, a savory ham, and sweet potato waffles. Seriously, all of it was sooooo good! Here's the whole crew... And another shot of almost all of us... The boys got to open a gift from Aunt Rissa, one from Nana, and one from Grammy. Thus, the beginning of so many presents to open:) Here they are standing in front of Aunt Rissa's tree with a gift from Aunt Rissa... Grammy got all 3 boys lanterns...so cute. Baron got a couple fun trucks from Nana... And Westen got a truck pulling a boat on a trailer...so cute. Last, here's a shot of the four of us in Jammies... I kinda loved the little change up this year. It was fun! After we ate, we played the annual White Elephant gift exchange. I love it that my in-laws totally get into it and everyone steals from each other. We ended up with a digital change collector and a juicer. Score!! Anyway, such a fun evening! Thanks Marissa and Lindsay for everything! My lack of posts this last quarter of the year...I don't want to talk about it. On my list of resolutions for 2013:) Anyway, after not attending in 6 years, we FINALLY got to get back to AL for Thanksgiving this year. My Aunt Vicki, Uncle Gale, and Cousin Alicia are AMAZING to host us all every other year. I don't recall the final count, but I know there were over 60 of us in all. I am blessed to be a part of such a great family. It was so fun to see all my aunts, uncles, and cousins...and of course my immediate family. I love every last one of 'em. Below is a picture of almost the whole group gathered around to hold hands, pray, and give Thanks before the Feast... This is such a fun weekend! I love the chaos of that many people...sleeping 12 of us in the basement in one big room...getting to know my cousins kids whom I rarely get to see...all of it. I didn't get a ton of pics, but here's some of my favorites... Love that precious pic... She was photographing and videographing the whole weekend. That one is for sure one of my faves. Love catching a candid of Daniel and especially one where he's being so sweet and affectionate:) Missing little Hannah, but a cute one of the girls. My sweet Ryan. Doesn't he look so handsome! I miss him so much! I'm sorry Dad wasn't in this one, but love it still. So Cute. I totally missed the true moment in this picture. Dad, all my uncles, and my aunt Vicki all walked out together before we ate with their dad, my Papaw Day. I love that my dad's family are all spread out geographically but when they are together you'd never know it. They all love each other so much. They're so fun to be around. Last but not least, I can't not mention our Black Friday Shopping Spree. I made shirts for our crew. Three of my nieces are of age now, so it made for a new adventure for us. Here they are... I seriously can't tell you how much I cherish this day with this particular group of girls...my mom and sister whom I adore and these sweet girls that I love more than they'll ever know. And that's all my iphone has to say about that! I just continue to find it harder and harder to keep up with our blog. Dangit!! I have A LOT of catching up to do (it was a busy month what with Halloween, Baron's birthday, and a visit from some pretty special people), so I'll start with Baron's birthday party. He wanted a "backetball" party, so I made him this little Warriors shirt (his favorite backetball team that Daddy coaches). Here's our big 2 yr. old... Did you notice the wrist-band? (yeah...he wore it all day). The pull-apart cupcake basketball cake... (Gotta love Publix) We had the party on a Saturday morning. It was supposed to be at our favorite park, but due to high winds and potential rain, we moved it to our house the day before. Since I worked my mom like a dog the day before, the party went great:) Thanks Mama (see her in the mirror?). We were so excited to have Uncle Ryan in attendance too... Now, check out the icing and yes...the snot... Poor guy started with a cold the day before and he's still got it. Probably couldn't taste if for all that chocolate though. Gross!! Here's some more from party day... Lauren and Westen Aunt La La, Aunt Rissa, and Daddy Ready to open gifts Westen was excited he got a little something too:) Somehow we didn't manage to get any pictures with our other guests, but we're also thankful to Nana, Papa, Mamaw, the Pendry's, and the Geiger's for celebrating with us! It was a special day for our sweet Baron! Happy Birthday (again) Baby!!! Check back soon...I have to catch up on Halloween and our special visitors! I continue to slack on posting anything and I would apologize but it's summer! Beaching, boating, swimming, and eating has been consuming us. There's time for little else:) Plus, we had some very important guests to entertain for awhile... Typical mean-faced Baron and something distracting my usual cheezer, but the girls look nice don't they? We stayed pretty buys for their stay but we seriously had SO MUCH FUN!! First day we were off to the infamous Spanish Sugar Mill for some awesome pancakes. Man! why are pancakes so good?? After we filled our bellies, Ellie, Josie, Baron, Westen, and I got in the springs to cool off (or I should say cold off) and then we took a walk to get some pictures. Here's what we captured... All 5 of them in the tree. Of course, Baron would only sit with Ellie (his crush:) A cute one of Jo, I thought And sweet Hailey I hope, at least, one child of mine is like her (in a boy way, of course) Another cute one of Josie. I got a few solos of her that day that turned out good. He almost looks friendly... I love that one of Westen! Thick as Thieves these two are! This one's adorable too! I told them to race back. Of course, Westen gave it all he had! Another cute one of Josie and if you look closely, you can see the lizard she caught in that hand:) Upon return from the Sugar Mill, the kids all got in the pool that night. I think they were in it everyday they were here - at least Josie and Ellie were. The next day we headed to the beach. It was a beautiful day. Hailey and Ellie got some sun which was their main goal. Josie barely came out of the water the entire 3 hours we were there. And Westen and Baron played in the sand like normal. Here's my favorites of that day... Come on...how cute is that? They love playing in little holes with some water in them. Love that picture. I think it took us 3 tries but I love how this picture turned out! Josie, you're adorable!! This one's for you, Mom! Again, priceless... After a long day at the beach, we grilled out that night. The next day was boat day since Austin was off work! He was so excited because we got to use our tube! Ellie and Josie Hailey Me and Westen The Girls! This time my boys were outnumbered! Usually, it's me:) Baron in his happy place:) Our little snorkeler:) Baron crashed on the cruise back... So Westen got some one on one with Ellie! We spent the next couple days just chillin' in the pool and enjoying some quality time together. Then, although, I didn't get pictures of it, we went to Orlando a couple days to watch Hailey and the Firebirds fight their way to 4th place in the National Tournament (from 76 teams!!). I was glad to get to see her play. And we had Ellie all to ourselves a couple nights too which was fun! The boys adore her! We also celebrated the boys' Aunt Lindsay's birthday (Happy Birthday La La). We had so much fun with the Ison's and can't wait to see them again. Have a great weekend!!! Okay, so I'm waaaayyy behind on posting anything and I have so many things to share. It's 9pm right this very second, so we'll see how far I get:) First up, the Friday before we left for KY (so the 18th, I think) Westen's preschool celebrated a Daddy Day. Dads only were invited to come into the classroom to interact and participate in some activities with their kids. I love that they do that:) Austin and Westen made a tie together, Westen shaved Austin's face with cool whip, they traced their shoes and compared foot sizes, and more. Anyway, I mentioned to Westen that morning that maybe he'd want to dress nice (meaning just not running shorts) and he insisted that he wear a tie and white shirt because that's what Daddy wore! He wore it proudly all day at school and him and Austin were the only ones there wearing them. I thought it was so sweet! Here he was that morning... So, two days later the boys and I left for a week trip to KY. They did great on the flight and were so excited to get there. I'd say this was one of our most fun KY trips. Julie and her kids were out of school so we got to spend a lot of time with them. Daniel got to come up for the Memorial Day weekend and had his girls all weekend too. Really, it was awesome! The only thing missing was my husband. And as much fun as I had, I was wishing he were with me everyday. Regardless, I took quite a lot of photos, so I won't try to share them all, but I will share my favorites. And, for the most part, I'll let them do the talking... The boys LOVE going to the park and Mamaw knows it, so it was one of the first things we did... Think Baron was enjoying himself??? I love that picture of Ryan! A genuine smile on that sweet face:) Man, I love that kid!!! Because big kids can enjoy the park too;) Baron wasn't overly friendly to many people while we were there, but he was handing out kisses this day, it seems... And Westen made a new best friend... And Baron did too... The boys took many rides with Papaw which has become a regular request with every visit now... Baron took a guitar lesson from Uncle Daniel... Westen and Josie fought off all the bad guys in Mamaw's and Papaws's yard using their super soakers... The boys just really had so much fun with their cousins, aunts, uncles, Mamaw, and Papaw... Also, while I was in my Ole Ky Home, I turned the big 3-0!!! Austin sent me my favorite cake of all time - Banana Dream- from TooJays which was super thoughtful (I'll tell you what else he got me in another post coming soon:) and that night, Mom and Julie threw me a party! I thought it was just my family coming, but they invited some of my friends from high school that I keep in touch with too! It was so thoughtful and sweet and I enjoyed myself thoroughly! Honestly, it's hard when I go home to drive around making trips to visit people that I really want to see while I'm home... so when I can see everyone at once, it makes my trip that much more easy and enjoyable:) Thank you Mom for putting it together, and thank you Julie for once again opening your home for another party for us. I guess I should say, thank you Dan too! Julie mentioned a "small" get-together and didn't take into account the 18 kids that would be there - 10 of those 18 being around 5 years old and under!!! Oh My Babies and Toddlers!!! Anyway, here's some pics from that night... The two stooges...And before you say anything Julie, OMG, it's NBD!! My nieces are growing up entirely too fast!!! Boyfriends, facebooks, and more! I can't handle it all:) Me, Krystie, and that sweet Baby Jael! Okay, so couldn't little Cruz and Westen be twins if they had the same color hair and eyes?? I think they look so much alike! And that's my girl, Aurella whom I know if I lived closer I'd hang out with a lot:) It was getting dark at this point, but we captured one picture of my friends that were in attendance. From left to right, my BFF from high school - Kendra, another dear high school friend - Aurella, me, one of my dearest friends since middle school - Heidi, a tried and true friend I've known all my 30 years, Krystie, another sweet friend from middle and high school, Christin. And Shorty down there is Heidi's little girl, Sadie:) Me and My sister who loves me unconditionally... My sweet Ryan My tough big brother And me and my boys!! I know one was taken of me and my mom and dad, but it's not on my camera. It must be one you said you were going to send to me, Mom!! Overall, we had such a fantastic trip! It was so fun for me and the boys too! I'm pretty sure the boys think they own the place when they go there... I know I still showed a ton of pictures and talked a lot, but oh well. If you made it this far, you might as well see the last two pictures... Love those guys!!! I'm calling it a night! It took an hour for those pictures to load, but it was a lot so not too bad. Check back later this week for a post on Westen's end of the year preschool program and picnic, Sea World, and my birthday surprise:) Have a great week! Well, I left my camera at a friends house a couple weeks ago and got it back last week. There were just a few pictures on it I thought I'd share. The weekend I left my camera, one of my BFFs from my high school days came down for the weekend with a friend of hers. And although we rarely see each other now and can often times go months without talking on the phone, it was nice to know we could pick up where we left off. And she's the same as ever:) It was her first time meeting Baron, and apparently...he took to her. Here he is with Renee... That's the only picture I got of her that weekend, because it was the very next day that I left my camera at this birthday party:) A bounce house with a slide and yummy food can never go wrong! Here's the birthday boy, Westen's buddy Rhett... He turned 4 last month and we were glad to get to celebrate with him. The slide and bounce house were a big hit! Even Baron got to go down with Rhett's sister, Kohen... It was a fun time! Moving forward a week, our sweet cousins Brandon and Heather were in town from TX and we got to spend one afternoon with them. They have a 4 year old Bayden that Baron and Westen got to play with:) Here they are acting silly! Bayden's baby brother, Callan, was here too, but my camera battery died that day! I know I need to get it together! Hope everyone had a Happy Easter Weekend! We enjoyed ours. Although I failed to take pictures, Saturday we colored Easter eggs with Westen, and then that night we made Resurrection Bread. It was kind of cool and he totally got it. We've been talking about Easter and what it means for the past couple weeks, plus he's been getting it at school too so he can tell you exactly why we celebrate this day called Easter. Anyway, long story short, we put marshmallows (dipped in butter and a sugar/cinnamon mixture) -also known as Jesus- into pillsbury crescent rolls- also known as the tomb- rolled them up tight leaving no gaps then baked them. When you take them out they're hollow inside, thus Jesus rose from the dead and the tomb is empty. Westen totally got into this while I let him dip the marshmallows in the butter. It was pretty cute. We opened them up Sunday morning before we went to church to see the results:) It was a really cute idea and perfect for his little toddler mind. And although we didn't really say much about the Easter Bunny, the boys did get Easter baskets which they opened in our bed after milk. Here's a couple shots from that... Westen's been wanting a belt for probably a couple months now so he can dress like Daddy. I finally made him two and put them in his Easter basket. He's so funny about it and wore that one all day:) And Baron got a horse because he loves to name animals and make their sounds right now so he was pretty excited about his little Neigh Horse:) After baskets and breakfast we got ready for church. Unfortunately, our little Baron has not been feeling well and you can pretty much tell in some of these pictures. As cute as they look in these adorable little argyle ties, I can see that puffiness around his eyes and know that probably right before this shot was taken, he had his nose wiped for the 100th time before 9am that morning. Bless his little heart. I felt so bad for him all day. They sure look handsome, though, don't they??? And Daddy does too... And here I am all gussied up too - make up on...hair fixed...it must've been a special day for all that to go down:) I tried to get a cute shot of the boys outside together all in their matching khaki pants, white shirts, and ties, but this was honestly the best we could day. Baron had other things on his mind... Baron's face in that picture looks like he was on his way to do something mean:) But here, he looks sweet and innocent... We went to the 9am church service which was great, then headed on home. I had a mini Easter egg hunt planned for the boys. Here's a couple shots from that. In this next one, we told the boys to stand side by side and show us the eggs they found in their baskets and Baron proceeded to dump his on his head... Next, we had lunch then put the boys down for a nap. We weren't due in Orlando 'til 5pm, so we spent the afternoon home (although Austin and I did P90X, so it wasn't that pleasant:) Anyway, off to Nana's and Papa's for an Easter dinner. I have to show this picture from last year's Easter of Lauren pulling Baron in the wagon... And then this year... Isn't that funny! Man how much a difference one year makes! Anyway, like always with Lauren, the boys had fun! Can't you just tell little B doesn't feel good in that one? Despite how he looks, he was really quite the trooper all evening. I don't think he whined or cried once. He can be so sweet sometimes. After our bellies were full from a great dinner we snapped a couple shots with the boys great-grandma, aka Grammy... I could be wrong, but I think she's 92 yrs. old. And I've never seen her looking anything but good. She's such an awesome woman and we love her dearly:) After that we headed to Todd's house which is Aunt La La's boyfriend for the big Easter Egg Hunt. The boys LOVED this. Baron really enjoyed both Easter egg hunts more than I thought he would. He loved finding them and then throwing them into his "Lellow" basket:) Westen had to figure out how to get that float from the middle of the pool close enough for him to reach the eggs on it. Aunt La La, Todd, and Nana did a good job making it fun for the kids:) Thanks guys! The boys also got to jump on Todd's trampolene and I think it's the first time either of them have done that. They LOVED it! We had to make them get off to go open their Easter eggs and eat dessert! That picture is deceiving, but they kinda look the same size there. Moving on, here's one more picture I'm including just to tell a short story about Mr. Cousey who got to tag along with us to the Easter fun... I'll try to keep this short, but before we left yesterday Austin said, "I was thinking we should take Cous today to show him a little love since he feels like he gets left out now all the time." I thought it was a good idea so off to Easter dinner and egg hunt he went. While at the egg hunt at Todd's house, Lindsay's dog was there too and they were playing together for awhile. We were all outside the whole time for the most part and no one saw little Cous slip away. So around 8pm when Austin and I started packing up stuff to head home, we start calling for Cousey to no avail. We walk outside and begin yelling his name but he is nowhere in sight. Long story short, we, along with Todd, Lindsay, and Nana looked for Cousey for the next hour. We thought he was gone. And, of course, he was not wearing a collar or i.d. tag. We NEVER put one on him. Stupid??? Maybe, but he rarely leaves us when we're outside with him. By 9pm, already an hour past the boys bedtime with an hour yet to drive home, we decide we have to take the kids home. We leave...WITHOUT my sweet Cousey whom we've had for 6 years!!!! Once we actually start heading for home I begin to cry and feel completely sick to my stomach! Although our plan was to go back the next day with flyers and hope that someone took him in for the night, my heart sank at the thought of him spending the night in an unfamiliar place or worse yet, outside and alone. Our Cousey is a spoiled little dog and extremely emotional. I wouldn't put it past him to have a heart attack in a situation like that. He's terrified of storms for crying out loud!! Anyway, right as we pull into our neighborhood one hour of nausea and silence later, Lindsay calls to say they heard scratching on the back door and lo-and-behold he made his way back! Insert HUGE sigh of relief here! I got him back today and Westen gave him a good talking to on our way home. And that's true:) I'm so happy that he'll be back at my feet tonight:) One final note, my favorite pictures of the day are the two below. I just love these boys so much! Mr. Happy Go Lucky - not afraid to sport the bunny ears, loving his new belt, and still happy with his nearly rubbed off Ironman tattoo and the chance to ride a scooter:) He is such a sweet child! And then Mr. Baron who wants, ever so much, to be big like his brother and looks the part in this picture. Marching to the beat of his own drum, usually looking a little disheveled (probably due to some kind of fall and hit to the head), always looking for the next thing he can get into. There's never a dull moment. He melts my heart everyday when he clings like a monkey to me or Austin when he wants to be held but only gives kisses away when he feels like it. He is so precious! Hope you all have a great week! Most of you in KY have probably already seen this video or were there to watch it live, but here's the link to my 2 nieces Hailey and Ellie singing in their school talent show! They totally rocked it - making it into the top five! Next week is the final round. I'm so proud of you, Girls! Love you guys! | Welcome!Hi and welcome to our blog!
