In case you missed last Friday's post, my projects for Fridays will be on the Outnumbered blog. Click here or on Outnumbered at the top. Add Comment Wow! What a weekend! We had a very busy, but fun-filled Easter weekend! This post is kinda long so either bear with me, or skim the pictures. They tell the story anyway, right? Westen was off school for Good Friday, so while Baron napped that morning, Westen and I colored Easter Eggs! No frills here people, but cut us some slack - he's 2:) Friday night Austin and I went out and left the boys home with Miss Becca. We had a night out with our Kazmierczak friends in DeLand. We checked out Aritsan Alley which is like a mini flea market with local DeLand vendors. It was cute! And we had a great time with them, like always. Saturday morning we headed out to the Halifax River to take a boat cruise. While waiting for our friends, the Pendry's, to join us, we cruised around a bit and had some unexpected company... Dolphins everywhere! They were within a few feet of our boat. We just puttered around for awhile watching them play! It was awesome and Westen loved it! The Pendry's joined us soon after and we had a great boat day with them. Besides being a bit windy, it was a beautiful day. That night, we stayed home for some much needed rest. We had a big day coming on Sunday. Here's a few pics before we headed to church Sunday morning. Check out my handsome boys! After church, (which, by the way, I really don't think it matters how many times you hear the Easter Sunday sermon - it makes me so thankful for Christ every time), we came home and let the boys open their Easter Baskets. Then Westen had a mini egg hunt by the pool! While Westen hunted eggs, Baron, still sporting his suspenders and bow tie, just played and watched:) After a short nap for the boys (and a minor collision between my finger and a ceramic salsa dish that made us late), we headed to Nana's and Papa's house for more fun. We had some great food, and the boys got to open another Easter basket from Nana and Papa. Then, we had, yet another, Easter Egg Hunt! Baron had a great time letting his sweet cousin Lauren pull him around outside in the wagon. He was enjoying relaxing so much that he fell asleep. Too cute! Thanks for all the help, Lauren! With all the hoopla surrounding the holiday, it's easy to forget what Easter is all about. We had so much fun with our family and friends this weekend, but more importantly, having a time to celebrate the resurrection! Happy Easter! I started this blog a couple years ago as a way for my faraway family and friends to keep up with our happenings. I think you guys up in KY enjoy it - and I love it too and I think will always continue to do this as long as a I live far away, but... I started surfing blog-land a little and found a few homemaking/crafty/DIY blogs that I really love and inspire me daily regarding my home and family. Many of the ones I like are by Christian women, stay-at-home moms, just like me using a blog as a creative outlet, if you will, in order to bounce ideas off one another and find inspiration as wives, mothers, and homemakers. For awhile now, I've been posting my own projects on this blog every Friday. And that's been fine too, but I sometimes would like to link my projects up to other blogs' linky parties. There are sometimes prizes given away with these, and if not prizes, then exposure. Having said that, if anyone saw one of my project posts and wanted to see more of my "DIY projects" they'd go to this blog and maybe instead get an earful of the latest potty training victory in my house or a story about our nice weekend on the boat. Know what I mean?? Soooo, I've decided to split my blog into two. All of you (my family and friends) that check my blog regularly can still keep up to date on me and my boys on this blog called the Daily Grind. If you also enjoy hearing about my latest project or creative attempt, you can simply click on the link above entitled Outnumbered. I'll still be posting projects every Friday there and maybe more than that. And if you didn't know already, you can subscribe to either blog through the RSS feed located on the side (just scroll down.) And those interested in my project posts can browse my projects without the added info. of the newest baby food Baron tried or whatever;) Click here to see the Outnumbered blog. I'll have a project up tomorrow on Friday, as always. I love you all and Happy Easter! And Thank God - He is Risen!! Westen's preschool class had an Easter Party today. This was the first time we, as parents, have been invited to something, so of course, Austin and I both attended. There's Westen lined up outside before the big Easter Egg Hunt. And here's a closer look. The kids got to search for Easter Eggs all over the playground. After the hunt, we ate lunch and then all the kids played. We had a great time and were glad to get to see Westen in action at school. He's so funny. And he had to show Baron his eggs. Good times. Just a little something that I didn't have time to add yesterday. Baron made his debut in the pool over the weekend. Yay, Baron! He just splashed around and acted like it was no big deal. No we didn't really get in the "big pool". It's still too cold. We warmed the water of the hot tub up a bit and got in there. Austin, Westen, and I all did venture in the "big pool" at some point or another that day, but YIKES it was way cold. Anyway, there's Baron with Daddy in his sweet little bathing suit. And there's how I found Cousey Sunday laid up on Baron's chair. I just think it's so cute when he does that. So, I pulled in my driveway today after picking up Westen and running a couple errands. Our sweet neighbor, Miss Peggy, comes walking over to us telling us about her interesting morning of finding 2, must be just hours or day old, fawns. Little teeny tiny baby deer! Precious!! So we explained to Westen the importance of being quiet (and thankfully Baron was asleep), and headed over so Westen could see these beauties. And this next shot is just to give you a visual of how tiny they were. This is not a tree, but a shrub. I mean, seriously, tiny. I've never seen them so small before, and certainly not this close. And here's the other one. Miss Peggy said their momma is nowhere to be seen. She fears they'll starve:( She tried putting some water in front of them to no avail. In the mean time, they're just curled up against her house waiting for their mom, I suppose. I don't think they know what to do. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I've been marveling at what we got to see. Incredible! So I found a way to make these cute little Easter Baskets here. I made them this week and they didn't take too much time or effort. Probably an hour for the first one, and less for the second. I had Westen do a practice Easter Egg hunt to model the Easter Basket. Plus, I thought he could use a little practice:) I love the lining in this one. Cute little birds - very springy. And I liked the Navy/Yellow combo for this one. This one's Baron's. Anyway, the tutorial I mentioned calls for 1/4 yard fabric, which I didn't think was enough. I had to make some extra cuts to get mine to work and they're still a little smaller than the ones in the tutorial are. Next time, I'd go ahead and buy 1/2 yard for each. I'm thinking of adding their names to the plain fabric at the bottom... or maybe a little cutout of a bunny rabbit. But, they're cute the way they are and I kinda worry I'd mess them up by doing anything else. Whattya think?? Next week I'll be tackling another Easter project that I'm super excited about. I just hope they turn out. Have a great weekend! Linking up to Today I finally got around to taking Baron's picture for his 6 month old update. It's a pretty day so we headed outside, but all I could get him to do was this... Yep... He's sticking his toes in his mouth. Every time I pulled his hands and feet down, he'd stick them right back up there. Then it became a game. He'd start laughing every time I pulled them away from his face. So funny! And you can see in that picture that he got 2 teeth this month! Yay, Baron! At 6 months, Baron's more precious than ever. Still a serious Momma's boy, and I'm eating it up. I pray Baron always loves me as much as he does right now. We've been diligently trying to get this kid to eat some solids (baby cereal, carrots today for the first time) and he's really been fighting me on it. For 2 weeks straight he pretty much didn't swallow any of it - just let it fall out of his mouth or spit it out. Monday he finally swallowed some. He's tough. Learning to eat food from a spoon has not been a favorite baby stage of mine with either children. Pray I have patience:) I need it. We did switch some things around that has made a difference in his eczema so that's been a blessing. His skin is looking so much clearer. He can roll over whenever he wants. He started taking a bath with big brother this month. And he's reaching for everything right now. I'm waiting for him to start scooting a little any day. Although he can't sit up yet, so crawling's still a bit off, but we'll see. He's getting more hair and it seems to be so light. We could have a blondie! Where'd that come from?? He also has lightened up on Daddy a little this month. Finally! He's interacting more with all of us. Just last night Westen had him cracking up in the bathtub. Can't wait to see what this month brings! Love you, Baron! To see the rest of Baron's update, click here. Well, for some reason I never was able to upload any pictures Friday or Saturday. I didn't have time yesterday, so oh well. Maybe I'll show 2 projects Friday. I worked on a few last week. Anyway, I thought, today, I'd share what we've been up to lately. As you can see, Westen got a new toy! The best 50 cents I've ever spent. Yep... we got it at a yard sale. And he LOVES it! No, it doesn't blow bubbles anymore, but do you think this guy cares?? And how about the hat and sunglasses?? He's so cute! And here's Baron, standing up playing at the train table. He's been reaching for everything lately, and whatever he gets his hands on, of course, goes straight to his mouth. Here's a perfect example. It's a foam block. He's got 2 teeth to chew now, though, so I have to watch him:) Baron is actually 6 months old today, so look for his monthly update tomorrow or Wednesday. And one day we were just playing outside, so I took a few pictures. This particular day, I'd been playing around with the manual settings on our camera. Some of them actually turned out how I hoped. Maybe I'll figure that thing out yet:) Westen barely stands still long enough for me to ever get a good picture. Facing the wrong way, but still for once. He thinks he's so big! And the Cous!! I stood over him with the camera and he looked right up at me like he knew it'd be a good picture. And it is, I think. That same day, we went for a walk to go find some ducks. One of our favorite things to do right now. I'm hoping to get a bike soon with a baby trailer so we can do that instead of walking because it will soon be getting sooooo hot outside! Westen was checking out the fire hydrant. Saturday night, on a whim, we decided to take the boat out for dinner. So we hurried to pack up and headed out to go to Caribbean Jack's for dinner. It was a beautiful night out and it felt great to be out on the water. As always, Westen took a turn to drive, except this time Austin actually let him sit up there by himself. There were no boats around so he also let him turn the wheel for a bit. We just went around in a big circle. Naturally, Westen thought it was awesome! Baron had a great time too! I actually drove the boat for a bit too! Woohoo! I did better than I did my first time which was a couple years ago when we first bought the boat. Maybe I'll figure it out by summer's end. Here's Westen leaning over the back just watching the water. He seriously loves being on the boat. Just like his Daddy, I guess. For some reason I failed to get any pictures of Austin that night. I'll make up for it. Sunday, we headed to Orlando, dropped the boys off at Nana's and Papa's, then Austin and I headed to the Orlando Magic game. We had awesome seats and a great time! The boys were good and had fun too! Hope you had a good weekend too! Well, for some reason I'm unable to upload photos right now. If I have time, I'll try again later to upload the pictures and share about this week's project. Otherwise, check back tomorrow:) | Welcome!Hi and welcome to our blog! I am Kate - wife of super high energy, super republican, super fun husband, Austin, and mother of 2 adorable, sweet boys - Westen and Baron! And mother of our eldest child, our sweet Boston Terrier, Cousey! Yeah, I'm outnumbered 4 to 1 so we have a home filled with rough-housing, trucks, trains, sports, you name it! I am what, over the years, has been called homemaker, housewife, and stay-at-home mom. I dare not say what today's society may call me (I kid... I kid!) I love being home with my boys and attempting to make my house a home. I'm what my mom calls "crafty", but feel more like a novice and hope to improve on my DIY and home-making skills. This blog is a way for us to share our adventures with our friends and family. To learn more about us, click here. Enjoy!
